The field of chemical engineering is in constant evolution, and access to information technology is changing the way chemical engineering problems are addressed. Inspired by the need for a user-friendly chemical engineering text that demonstrates the real-world applicability of different computer programs, Introduction to Software for Chemical Engineers acquaints readers with the capabilities of various general-purpose, mathematical, process modeling and simulation, optimization, and specialized software packages while explaining how to use the software to solve typical problems in fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, etc. we want to provide our participants to learn and understand the software that they will use as a Chemical Engineer in the future.

On October 14th, 2020, AIChE ITS Student Chapter’s Professional Development Department organized a second software training Webinar with Dr.Tantular Nurtono, S.T.,M.Eng as our speaker. Currently, he is a lecturer at the Chemical Engineering Department in ITS and also an expert in DWSIM. This is why we chose to hold the event “Upgrading Through DWSIM” to educate the participants about the usage of Chemical Engineer software such as DWSIM and to share the basic step to use the software.

The discussion was held online with our main topic about “Upgrading Through DWSIM“.
It was attended by 40 participants from various majors in Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember. The main topic discussed in this event was what is DWSIM and how to use it.

this software training webinar explains Microsoft Visio into 2 main topics which are the general explanation of DWSIM and how to use each unit operations in DWSIM. DWSIM is a multiplatform, CAPE-OPEN compliant chemical process simulator for Windows, Linux,Android, macOS and iOS.DWSIM allows chemical engineering students and chemical engineers to better understand the behavior of their chemical systems by using rigorous thermodynamic and unit operations’ models with no cost at all.DWSIM also has an easy-to-use graphical interface with many features previously available only in commercial simulators:
