Today, the chemical industry has experienced rapid development. He observed this development accompanied by awareness and knowledge of occupational health and safety. These two things become something of a nature fundamental considering the chemical industry has a lot to do with hazardous materials. Also, cases that have occurred in the chemical industry such as the release of toxic gases into
natural surroundings, fire in the factory, and the explosion of the reactor indicates
the importance of understanding safety in the world industry.
On October 31st, 2020, AIChE ITS Student Chapter’s Professional Development Department organized a Safety Process webinar with Mr. Rahadian Bayu as the speaker. Currently, he is an engineering design team Manager former risk management advisor CHEVRON The ASAP Program (AIChE Safety Awareness Program) is an event held by AIChE ITS Professional Development which consists of two activities, namely SAChE Training and seminars on process safety. The SAChE training Web-based training (online) which can be accessed through the official AIChE website. This training consists of three levels, namely basic, intermediate, and advanced. The training will provide a learning video along with an evaluation where the training time is unlimited (customize participant applications). After the training is complete, participants will automatically receive a certificate soft file as proof that you have attended the training. It was attended by 59 participants from universities all across Indonesia.
In this webinar, the topic is divided into 6 sub-topics which are process safety(PS), CCPS-Risk Based PS, Hazard Control, Risk management, Risk assessment Tools, Inherently Safer Design. According to the AIChE-CCPS, Process safety is a disciplined framework for managing the integrity of operating systems and processes handling hazardous substances by applying good design principles, engineering, and operating practices. It deals with the prevention and control of events that have the potential to release hazardous materials and energy.according to OSHA, Process safety management is a regulation put into motion by OSHA that looks at all processes that involve handling, using, storing, moving, or manufacturing highly hazardous chemicals (HHCs). All aspects of how HHCs are interacted with are contained within process safety management regulations. Process safety aspects In industry are divide into personal safety and process safety. the goal of personal safety is preventing personnel incident and the focus of it is humans behavior or human performance while the goal of process safety is preventing hazardous materials LOC creating high consequences events or disaster and the focus of it is safer design, operation safety, facility integrity, TC&S.in personal safety, the incidents are frequent but generally have a low impact and indirectly involve process production while in the process safety the incidents are rare, but the potential impact is severe or catastrophic and it directly involves process production.
